You woke up today and found out your loved one has cancer. What was the first thing you thought about? Who do YOU turn to? Not only is the person that receives the news of they have cancer a heart breaker but you the family member or friend has to deal with the facts also. I am a family member who's father has cancer. He has survived for over 29 years with cancer and continues to be my hero. But what I want to do on this blog is hear from you the family member as to what you are going through. How you feel. How are you coping with the news. Do you know the facts have you done some research as to what cancer is.
There is alot for us to talk about and learn from each other as we have something in common, and it is what I like to call "the other side of cancer". The other side of cancer is you and I, the family member, the friend. Sometimes it is harder for the family to think about cancer because we want to help but we don't know what to do and we are upset. I will leave this blog today with these questions below.
1. Do you know what cancer is?
2. How does cancer make you feel?
3. Who can you talk to about cancer?
I would like to share ideas and thoughts of how we the family or friend or as I like to say "the other side of cancer" can cope with the news of cancer.
Talk to you soon,
Jared K. Shapiro
